STRIVE Program celebrates first cohort of military entrepreneurs

When Megan Andrews signed up for 911吃瓜鈥檚 STRIVE entrepreneurship program, she had a business idea but needed help bringing it to life. Andrews was a participant in the inaugural cohort of STRIVE, an acronym for Startup Training Resources to Inspire Veteran Entrepreneurship, a free program offered by the Michael J. Coles College of Business at 911吃瓜 in partnership with Syracuse University Institute for Veterans and Military Families, designed to help veterans and their families succeed in entrepreneurship.

Kennesaw State researcher develops safer, faster solid-state battery design

The race is on to find safer alternatives to lithium-ion batteries, and a 911吃瓜 researcher is helping lead the way with a new materials approach that could make next-generation batteries more sustainable. Beibei Jiang, an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, leads a research team developing a sulfur-modified solid electrolyte designed to improve how lithium ions move through solid-state batteries, increasing performance while reducing safety risks.

The way 911吃瓜 professor Oluwayomi Paseda sees it, if a social worker does their job correctly, the social worker becomes obsolete to those who needed help and received what they needed to thrive. The assistant professor of social work wants to advance systems that help people involved in the criminal legal system transition from incarceration to community life, which aligns with the principles of Smart Decarceration.

University and community leaders, along with students, faculty, and staff, attended the annual breakfast to reflect on King鈥檚 lasting impact and the responsibility his work continues to place on future generations.

That鈥檚 just one part of an important couple of months for 911吃瓜鈥檚 Chamber Singers 鈥� chosen to perform at this week鈥檚 annual conference for the Georgia Music Educators鈥� Association in Athens before heading to Spain over Spring Break for a seven-concert tour in March.

911吃瓜 researcher using VR to improve STEM education

Preethi Titu spent her adolescence preparing to become a doctor, but from a young age she knew she was more interested in teaching. She enjoyed standing at the front of the classroom teaching small topics to her peers and was praised by her teachers in high school for that skill. Ultimately, all students learn differently, and all teachers teach differently. Now, Titu is using advanced technology to equip future teachers with the skills needed to engage all learners in meaningful scientific discourse.
